Ray Agliata

Lead & Rhythm Guitars

A native of Trenton, NJ, Ray started playing music in high school when, upon listening to a Rush album, he decided to learn how to play the bass guitar.

“I love progressive and classic rock. Growing up, my early influences included such bass guitar greats as Geddy Lee, John Entwistle, and Chris Squire. As my music experience grew, and I played with a wide variety of musicians, I really got into some of the alternative and art rock stuff like The Cure (Disintegration is still one of my favorite CDs of all time), Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, and REM.”

About five years ago, Ray decided to pick up a six string and learn how to play.

“At first, my goals were to jam with my oldest son and to start a band to play my company’s Christmas party. It turned out to be a lot more than that.”

Ray began taking guitar lessons with Matt Lucash, guitar instructor from The Music Box in Hamilton, New Jersey. Wanting to focus on playing the blues, Ray moved on to take lessons from Trenton blues legend, Paul Plumeri.

Currently, Ray is a student of local music great, Ernie White, with whom he studies guitar and music theory.

“d•Luxe has helped me to really focus on more genres of music. We play a lot of funk, R&B, Top 40, and even some country. Playing all of these styles of music has broadened my skills not only as a guitar player, but as a musician in general.”

Besides playing music, Ray is an avid adventurer who loves the outdoors, and tackling the many items on his bucket list.
